Bellies Win 3rd Straight

Bellies Take 3rd Straight in 13 – 9 Win Over Thunder

The NW Jr. Bellies are starting to put together the efforts which will get them back in the playoff race in the BCJALL. A solid 13-9 win over the visiting Langley Thunder, Tuesday at Queens Park Arena, sent that message to the rest of the league.

The Bellies got solid defense – notably from veterans Cole Catton and Jake Stott-, steady goaltending from Brayden Bell,  and a balanced offensive effort to seal the win. Running into some 3rdperiod penalty trouble however, put a damper on the final score, as the Thunder scored 4 power play goals while outscoring the Bellies 5-4 in the frame. Penalty issues have plagued the Jr Bellies in the last few games, and they will have to solve this issue as other teams’ power plays in the league are just too good to keep off the scoresheet.

Leading the way for the Bellies offensively were Will Malcom with a huge 9 points on 2 goals and 7 assists, Tre Leclaire with 5 goals – 4 in the 1stperiod alone – and 1 assist for 6 points, Brian Stewart with a goal and 4 assists, Cam Garlin with 2 and 2, Drew Andre with 1 and 2, Erik Maas with 3 assists, Nick Hannay with 2 assists and, chipping in with single goals, were Kai George and Austin Ducommen.

The Baby Bellies have a long 10 day break between games before returning to action against the Langley Thunder on Thursday May 30th, 7:30at Langley’s LEC.
