Bellies Right the Ship With Win Over Islanders

The Jr. Bellies put a halt to a very uncharacteristic, two game season opening losing streak, by grinding out a 9-7 win over the Delta Islanders Tuesday night. Although they were outshot 49 – 42 on the night, a solid 3^rdperiod effort – especially by hitting for the last 3 goals of the game - sealed the deal for the home team. Leading the way offensively for the Bellies were Cam Garlin and Eric Maas with 3 goals and an assist respectively. Jr. B callup Kai George, Drew Andre and Ben Stewart all chipped in with singles. Goaltender Brayden Bell was solid all night with 42 saves. Bell saved his best moments for last by shutting down the Islanders for the last 9 minutes of the 3^{rd, ,}  setting the stage for 3 straight Bellie goals. It was a much needed 2 points for the Bellies, and they now look forward to next Tuesday May 12^that Queens Park Arena where they will host the defending Minto Cup Champion Coquitlam Adanacs. Regardless of the standings, these two teams always go at each other like every game is their last! Game time is 8:00 pm. Be there!
