BELLIES COME UP BIG IN GAME 3 WIN. TAKE OPENING SERIES 2 GAMES TO 1.

The NW Junior Bellies came roaring back from a game 2 loss in Delta against the Islanders Wednesday, by posting a solid 11- 7 win Friday night at Queens Park Arena, and, in the process, taking the opening quarter final series 2 games to 1. They now will meet the Burnaby Lakers in a 3 game semi-final series starting this Sunday, August 8^th at 4:00 at Burnaby’s Copeland Arena.

It was a solid bounce back effort against the same Islanders team which defeated the Bellies 10-3 in game 2.

The Bellies won this one with an all around solid effort by the defense, offense, and the goaltending. Offensively the Bellies were again led by Austin Ducommun with 2 goals and 4 assists, Drew Andre with 2 and 2, Kip Guthrie with 2 goals and an assist, Ezrah Glanville also with 2 goals and an assist and Kai George chipping in with 3 helpers. Keegan Melnychuk was solid in goal all night registering 36 saves on the night, shutting the door on the Islander’s offense in the crucial 3^rd period. The Bellie defense also had a huge bounce back in game 3, limiting the Islanders to 43 total shots on goal for the entire game.

New West now faces the Burnaby Lakers in a 3 game semi-final series starting Sunday, August 8^th, 4:00 PM at Burnaby’s Copeland Arena. Game 2 goes at 7:30, Monday August 9^th, 7:30 PM at Queens Park Arena with game 3 , if necessary, going Wednesday, August 11^th, 7:30 PM at Copeland. The winner of this series will play for the Mainland portion championship of the 2021 BCJALL.
