Adanacs Shade Bellies in 1st Season Meeting

Bellies Renew Rivalry with A’s In Close Loss at QPA

Your NW Jr. Bellies renewed an old rivalry with the defending Minto Cup Champions at Queens Park Arena Tuesday May 14th. The Adanacs prevailed in very close contest 8-7. The Bellies welcomed back all-star forward Tre Leclair  (see picture) for some much needed offensive punch and he did not disappoint, hitting for 2 goals and a helper. The Bellies, who were behind on the scoresheet all night, staged a furious rally in the 3rdperiod, eventually tying the game up 6-6. However, the talented A’s struck for 2 more goals to pull away, although a late goal by the Bellies’ Ben Stewart with just over 4 minutes left made it an interesting finish. Goaltenders Brayden Bell of the Bellies and the A’s Nate Faccin made 45 and 41 saves respectively, giving their teams a great chance to win it.

Ben Stewart finished with 2 goals, with single Bellie markers going to Jake Stott, Cam Garlinand Eric Maas. The Bellies hope to right the ship with 2 upcoming road games: Wednesday May 15that Delta and a date with the Saints on Friday the 17thin PoCo. Those games are huge early season ‘must wins’ for the Bellies if they entertain any hope of getting back in the playoff race in the BCJALL.
